Should you spot this particularly fine amphibian, most often inhabiting the forest or idling along a stream, you can count yourself lucky. Preferring, for the most part to be nocturnally active, it likes to hide in a hole in the ground or a cave during the day.
The striking black and yellow pattern on its back acts as a warning, letting other animals know it may be poisonous, and to keep their distance.
